The Acts of Hope Child Sponsorship scheme does exactly this. We are of to a good start this year promoting the program through our networks and making presentations at schools, churches, rotaries, groups etc. This builds the “channel” with AoH donors and the children in a very real way. The Bengaluru children know real people are interested in helping them and the donors know they are being effective.

Peter Willetts presented an overview of life for our children in Bangalore to Maltman’s Green School this month. The staff believe having contact with the charity helps their girls improve their Geography, learn about different cultures and see how other children live. The girls asked some very astute and thought provoking questions in the Q&A sessions and we are very grateful for their support.

It was a great party. The AoH executive and trustees would like to thank everyone for their generous giving in 2011. We would also like to thank everyone who helped with the food and wine. NP says he has been finding Bombay mix in all sorts of unusual places.

Peter Willetts and John Wishney had a wonderful day manning the AoH stand at the British Airways Global Community and Conservation Day. Gary Lineker presented awards to a number of great British Airways staff who support charities in the UK and overseas. We shared the BA Street at their Waterside headquarters with a number of charities and conservation groups which the airline supports. We also had the opportunity to represent AoH to supportive BA employees and to network with like minded organisations. The Christmas Tree decorations were a big hit. Finally, we would like to thank BA for their hospitality and support.

We look forward to welcoming AoH supporters to the Christmas “Nibbles and Drinks” chez the Chairman. We are promised interesting fare.

AoH has been invited to The British Airways Communities and Conservation Day at the corporate headquarters on Wednesday 7th Dec. We will have a stand on the BA “Street”.

On Dec 8th is the Maltmans Green School Carol Concert in aid of Acts of Hope.

On Dec 18th AoH will be at the “Christmas in the Woodland” day at the Chiltern Woodland Burial Park along with Santa and the Wycombe Philharmonic Choir. Proceeds from the day are going to The Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Peter returned from Bangalore today. The British Airways Flight was on time and it took twenty five minutes to pick up bags and clear border control.

We had a school cricket match, girls versus boys. It was a great match and I had better not say much more as I am sure any perceived bias will get me into trouble. Well done Acts of Hope!

My time has been taken with up with familiarisation, fact finding, board meetings, parent meetings and the new school site. However, I have found time to enjoy the vegetarian curries, get lost, ride on a motor bike pillion and test the school information and communications technology.
